The first nose is immediately very engaging with great charm and complexity thanks to subtle ripe notes including melon, yellow peach, orange blossom, almond cream, a hint of marzipan, lavender oil, bergamot, a hint of coconut, quince, and honey. The wine is round and superbly fruity (melon) on the palate, all wrapped up in a honeyed and creamy edge. The finish is long and light, yet richly aromatic. This smooth and charming Auslese (reminiscent of young Auslese from the 2003 vintage), with its subtle interplay of ripe yellow fruits and honey, is remarkable for its finesse.
